My initial influences came from American Pop Art, particularly the appropriated and serially

repeated images from popular culture.

I take those banal, commercial sources and use

digital technologies and traditional painterly

techniques to transform them into

something resembling high art.

Consequently, my process mixes several mediums,

as well as stylistic conventions, even within

a single work. In addition to painterly

handling, there are machine-generated

patterns, apparent repetitions, and

abstract forms in combination with

sleek photographic stereotypes.

This free-association collage of anonymous digital precision and hand-crafted, painterly

expressiveness underscores the abrupt shifts

of context evident in most contemporary art,

to say nothing of those we encounter

in our own lives.
